The Administrative Assistant Associate Degree prepares the person to perform high-level administrative support tasks such as compiling correspondence, preparing statistical reports, scheduling appointments, assisting clients in person and over the phone, arranging conference calls, taking and distributing minutes of meetings, handling information requests, organizing and maintaining paper and electronic files. These positions require the employee to interact effectively with coworkers and multitask. This person may train and supervise lower-level clerical personnel.

The management curriculum is designed to provide a sound familiarity with many intricate but practical business concepts. It exposes students to the challenges facing today’s managers in both business and industry.

This Administrative Support Assistant Associate Degree prepares workers to perform clerical duties such as answering telephones, e-mail, word processing, prepare correspondence, reports, forms, e-mails or other materials. These positions require employees to interact effectively with coworkers and multitask.

The Business Management (BUS) program is designed to develop the professional and business skills necessary to succeed in today’s competitive, demanding, and changing business environment. The Business Management program includes instruction in business and management, leadership, professional selling, business law, economics, entrepreneurship, marketing, human resources, accounting, and computer systems and applications. 

The fashion department gives students a thorough introduction to apparel design and manufacturing. Students are prepared to find employment in an apparel design firm or to start their own business. They will develop essential skills and techniques in sketching, fabric selection, sewing, draping, and pattern making.

The Associate in Arts in Art History for Transfer (AA-T) is intended for students who plan to complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Art History at a CSU or UC campus. The AA-T incorporates studio practice in order to encourage a rigorous understanding of creative traditions and innovations. Students will explore the relationship between art, artists, the concept of aesthetics, and their sociocultural context. The AA-T prepares students for a future in Art History.

The Associate of Arts in Art History is designed for students who wish to pursue the study of art forms of the past and present in a social, political, philosophical and cultural context as a foundation for understanding human history and creativity.

Are you ready to move up to project manager or supervisor in residential, commercial, or industrial construction? This program will give you the necessary skills to determine the human, physical and financial resources necessary for project activities. You’ll learn to control costs, manage documents and supervise others to be an effective project manager.

The Associate in Business degree is designed as a Direct Transfer Agreement/Major Related Program (DTA/MRP) for transfer with junior standing to baccalaureate institutions. It is generally pursued by students who plan to transfer to a four-year university as a business major after completing their first two years at Peninsula College.

San Jose City College offers a certificate and an Associate in Science (AS) in Facilities Maintenance Technology. The Facilities Maintenance Technology Program will provide students with the skills to begin or advance in a career in facilities maintenance. It was designed by the advisory committee to meet industry requirements. Students will learn the skills and concepts necessary to install, operate, maintain and repair control, piping, and mechanical systems in large commercial, medical, institutional, and industrial buildings. Students will also learn trouble shooting skills, problem solving methods and electrical concepts. Continuous improvement techniques and effective written, verbal, and electronic communication skills will be stressed across the curriculum. Classes are designed in lecture and lecture/lab format to give students a solid foundation in general maintenance skills including HVAC/R. A grade of "C" or better is required for all major and certificate courses.

Career paths are chosen by students pursuing undergraduate studies in Administration/Information Systems typically including managerial positions in business and the public sector, administrative support positions, customer service, sales, accounting/bookkeeping, and public relations.
