Successful completion of the Associate in Arts in Construction Technology prepares students for entry into the construction trades, which require a technical skill and understanding of construction processes. Students planning on transferring to a four-year school should complete the AA Degree, which includes the 39-unit general education sequence of courses. Specific four-year institutions may require additional courses in the major to fulfill lower division requirements. This degree may not transfer to all universities, and students need to inquire of the universities if they have a bachelors degree for their upper division course work. A grade of "C" or better is required in all major, certificate and major elective courses.

The Building Construction Technology curriculum is designed to prepare students to apply technical knowledge and skills to residential and commercial building construction and remodeling. Course work includes instruction in construction equipment and safety; site preparation and layout; construction estimating; print reading; building codes; framing; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning; electrical and mechanical systems; interior and exterior finishing; and plumbing. Graduates should qualify for entry-level jobs in architectural, engineering, construction, and trades professions as well as positions in industry and government.
