Over 20,000 students responded, and here’s what you had to say!
First and foremost, we would like to thank all of you who responded to our study abroad student survey! We were thrilled with the overwhelming number of responses we received, and very pleased to hear that across the board, the vast majority of students who are already studying abroad are loving their international experience.
The purpose of the survey was to help us collect information about what influences students to take their education overseas by finding out why students choose their destination or program, how they research study abroad opportunities, and what concerns they have before making their final decision. With this information, we are continuing to fulfill educations.com’s mission to help everyone in the world find their future education.
Here were some of the highlights of what we learned:
What inspired you to study abroad?
The top two reasons students cited for wanting to study abroad were to develop themselves personally and to experience a new culture. Achieving career goals followed in a close third.
What made you decide to choose your study abroad program?
The answer was almost split 50/50, however, a slim majority of students reported that, above all else, they consider the country and/or city they want to visit before choosing a program or school.
What concern did/do you have about studying abroad?
Many students reported that their primary concern about studying abroad were tuition fees and cost of living. Secondary to that, students expressed worry about not finding accommodation.
So, what do we plan to do with this information?
We are excited to craft content specifically for you! Already, you can get the answers to many of your questions in our Articles and Advice section. Additionally, we are working with schools to help them help students find their perfect study abroad experience.
