Our design-led Architectural Technology BSc will give you the skills you need to launch your career in design and development. From architectural composition and technical analysis to the business and management skills you'll need for contract procurement, we'll teach you how to apply technical decision-making to real-life design challenges. You'll gain an understanding of the multidisciplinary and collaborative nature of the modern construction industry, and will have the chance to work alongside students from all construction courses in Year 1. Studying the Architectural Technology BSc will give you the framework to practise privately, or — on a successful MCIAT chartership — run a business in the architectural and construction industries. All of our courses are delivered using an enquiry-based blended learning approach involving workshops, lectures, tutorials and independent study. We assess your learning through a variety of methods including project work, essays and exams.

University of Westminster
Master of Architecture (MArch) (RIBA pt II)
- London, United Kingdom
Master degree
Full time
2 years
On-Campus
English
The Master of Architecture (MArch) (RIBA pt II) is a long-established and well-respected course that is prescribed by the Architects Registration Board (ARB) and validated by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) to give exemption from the second stage of professional education. The emphasis of the course is on innovative design work and on developing a caring and critical approach to the study and practice of architecture. The course fosters diversity of choice, interpretation and approach, whether in design projects or more academic research. The former focuses on sophisticated design programmes (informal, technical, professional or urban terms) that demand rigour and self-criticism. The latter focuses on your major dissertation, an extended piece of specialised research into architecture and its historical or theoretical contexts. The course has three main objectives: to develop your design ability through project-based experimentation; to present an evaluation and critique of your coursework within a broad cultural context and in light of technical, economic and legal constraints; to promote the articulate explanation and representation of quality and value in design projects.

Learn more about Architectural Analytics degree programs
Architectural Analytics combines design principles with data analysis to improve architectural decision-making. This field equips students with tools to analyze spatial data, user interactions, and environmental impacts on design.
Through courses in data visualization, environmental modeling, and predictive analysis, students gain the ability to assess building performance and user behavior. The program often includes training in statistical software and design modeling tools, enabling graduates to process large datasets and translate these into actionable insights. As students work with complex datasets, they strengthen analytical thinking and become proficient in identifying trends that influence architectural design.
Careers in Architectural Analytics can lead to roles such as data analyst in architectural firms, building performance consultant, or urban planning analyst. Many graduates find opportunities in sustainability consultancy or smart city design, where their skills are valued for optimizing space and enhancing user experiences. The emphasis on analytical thinking fosters a mindset ready to tackle real-world problems through innovative design and smart solutions.
