This MSc in Clinical Anatomy aims to provide students with a greater understanding of advanced human anatomy including appropriate radiological anatomy, microscopic anatomy and embryology. The modules presented emphasise clinically and surgically relevant anatomy, although they are not designed exclusively for clinicians.

Clinical Anatomy is a core component of undergraduate medical degree programs and programs allied to medicine such as radiography and physiotherapy. However, the relative amount of anatomy taught in these programs is considerably less than in years gone by, and there are limited opportunities across the UK (and further afield) for medical and dental students, including those enrolled in the Clinical Anatomy MSc, to gain an in-depth knowledge of human anatomy beyond their core programs.

The Anatomy, Histology, and Embryology study program includes classical systematic macroanatomy, topographic anatomy, modern clinical anatomy, microscopic anatomy, histology (light microscopy and electron microscopy), immunohistochemistry, and cytology (morphology, biology, and pathology of the cell). Embryology is also included with special emphasis on the effect of environmental congenital developmental defects. This study program is without specialization.

Anatomy education at Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine is greatly enhanced by a newly-renovated 2,225 sq. ft. gross anatomy lab, that features dissection tables, digital anatomy workstations, scrubs stations, and sizable storage space for instructional models and anatomical specimens. The incorporation of digital anatomy, which can encompass everything from sectional and radiological images through the microscopic anatomy of embryology and histology, makes the lab a versatile addition to the educational resources available to students.
