This course is the starting point for the Level 1 in Accounting programme. From this course, students will gain an understanding of how different businesses operate across the public and private sector. They will learn how they can effectively contribute in the workplace by working with others, managing their time and behaving professionally. Students will gain an understanding of the ways in which businesses process sales and purchases and the documentation and procedures used to move goods and services between businesses. This a four-week course with the exam being taken in the fourth week. Students will receive a certificate up to six weeks after the successful completion of the exam.

This course is the third one in the Level one programme. Students enrolling on this course should have completed the Level 1 Business Skills and Computerised Accounting. This course introduces students to the role of the bookkeeper and simple bookkeeping techniques. It covers the buying and selling process and the common documents used. The course also includes recording transactions in the books of prime entry. Students will develop an understanding of the manual bookkeeping process and be introduced to the concept of double-entry bookkeeping. This course lasts for five weeks with the exam being taken in the fifth week. Students will receive a certificate within six weeks of a successful exam result.

To be able progress onto this course you should have complete the AAT Level 1 Business Skills qualification as this is the second course in the Level 1 Accounting Programme. The Award in Computerised Accounting introduces students to the basics of using accounting software. Students that complete this qualification will understand how to process information in respect of the sales and purchase ledger, create invoices and credit notes and deal with payments. They will learn the benefits of batch control sheets and how to produce a number of reports. The course will last for four weeks with the exam being taken in the fourth week.

This course is for students aged 19+ who have been out of education for at least one year post 18. This is a Full Level 3 programme (i.e. at the same level as A Levels, NVQ Level 3 or a BTEC Extended Diploma). It is the most popular route of entry into Higher Education for adults. There are class based sessions, tutorials and independent study and research. You will build a personal portfolio of your completed assignments as you progress through the course.

This course is for students aged 19+ who have been out of education for at least one year. This is a full Level 3 programme (i.e. at the same level as A Levels, NVQ Level Three or a BTEC National Diploma). It is the most popular route of entry into Higher Education for adults. There are class based sessions, tutorials and independent study and research. You will build a personal portfolio of your completed assignments as you progress through the course. For the Social Science pathway you will be studying Psychology, Sociology, Criminology and Social Welfare. Adults who have been out of education for at least one year and aiming to go on to University to study for a Degree or equivalent.
