7 Sports, Wellness and Lifestyle Advanced Certificate Degree Programs

The Pre-Physical Therapy certificate satisfies prerequisite coursework for most graduate-level programs in this field. This certificate program offers students the opportunity to complete the required foundational sciences, social sciences, and statistics coursework. The certificate focuses on providing students who want to apply to a graduate-level Physical Therapy program certified by the American Physical Therapy Association.

The Esthetics Program consists of one semester with a minimum of 600 hours of training to prepare the student for a career in skin care. The student will learn bone structure, the chemistry of products, skin analysis, use of packs and masks, electric modalities, correct makeup, and correct use of products.

The general Cosmetology program consists of a minimum of 1000 hours of training to provide entry-level skills to students who desire a career in the cosmetology profession. Students will develop expertise in the science and techniques of hair, skin, makeup, and lab experience in cosmetology. Upon completion, the student is eligible to take the California State Board examination to become a Licensed Cosmetologist.

The Advanced Clinical Certificate is designed for licensed massage therapists to advance their scope of practice to work more closely with healthcare professionals as part of the team or individually. All graduates will be prepared to sit for the massage licensing exam (MBLEx) to become licensed practising massage professionals.

The HND in Sports Coaching and Development is a two-year course providing the knowledge and skills necessary to work as a professional within the sector. The topics covered range from human anatomy, physiology and biomechanics to sports coaching, sports development and professional practice - including research skills.

The Certificate in Chinese Herbal Medicine Program is designed for licensed acupuncturists and graduates of acupuncture degree programs who wish to add herbal expertise as a component of their professional practices without having to complete an entire Traditional Chinese Medicine degree program.

The SMI gap year program offers the unique opportunity to study and play soccer at a high level in Italy by attending Rome City SC, our professional soccer academy. The objective of Rome City SC is to develop our players tactically, technically, and physically and to prepare them for a higher level of soccer. At the same time, our athletes attend two academic courses each semester: Italian and SMI Methodology (coaching course).
