The new Advanced Online Gelato course offers a direct link to the Carpigiani Gelato University headquarters in Bologna and is a MUST for all those who want to differentiate themselves in the world of ice cream. Educational objectives At the end of the course, you will have deepened your knowledge on balancing and you will be able to create the menu of a successful ice cream parlor, with traditional flavors, ice cream pastry, and innovative products.

The SMI gap year program offers the unique opportunity to study and play soccer at a high level in Italy by attending Rome City SC, our professional soccer academy. The objective of Rome City SC is to develop our players tactically, technically, and physically and to prepare them for a higher level of soccer. At the same time, our athletes attend two academic courses each semester: Italian and SMI Methodology (coaching course).

This program offers students a robust living and learning opportunity in León, Spain. León is a vibrant metro area of about 200,000 people on the historically important Camino de Santiago, a pilgrimage route through northern Spain. It is two hours north of Madrid by fast train and is home to one of only two UW study centers in the world. "Spain in Transition" is a novel cultural-immersion experience that draws upon the resources of two popular academic units at UW -- the Department of Communication and the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies. Each student will take a research methods course (5 credits) and then chose one of two other 5-credit courses offered by UW faculty from Communication and the Jackson School. In addition, each student will take a 5-credit conversational Spanish course through our partner institution in León, the Centro de Idiomas of the University of León. During the program, students will advance their knowledge about Spain through a range of academic and nonacademic activities. They will participate in field trips to other Spanish cities and towns; write about and photograph their travel and living experiences; interact with "pilgrims" from all over the world who are walking the Camino; conduct research on the politics and media of Spain today; learn to speak Spanish (or improve their Spanish if they already speak the language); live with local Spanish families, and meet students from other countries who are studying at the Centro de Idiomas or the University of León. This experience also should provide students with important life skills. They will practice cross-cultural communication, increase their tolerance for ambiguity, strengthen their resourcefulness, and learn to appreciate the values and customs of another culture.
