Many of our students go on to enjoy a broad range of opportunities after completing their A-Level courses, typically choosing three or four A-Levels for a two-year study programme. From two years packed full of creative courses and a chance to develop your talents, to fascinating A Level courses in the sciences that will keep you at the cutting edge of technology, our courses offer you the opportunity to develop skills and prepare for further education.

Business is undoubtedly one of the largest and most important sectors in the world, including management, finance, law, and marketing. Its wide variety of occupations cuts across every single industry, allowing you to specialize your business skills for companies around the world. By studying a career pathway in business, you will be able to learn more about risk-taking, finances, planning, media, and marketing for careers in social media, business management, and entrepreneurship.

This course explores topics such as the foundations of physics, forces, and motion, electrons, waves and photos, astrophysics and particles, along with developing your practical physics skills.

A-level programmes are made up of two halves. The first year is called an AS Level. The second year is called an A2. The two halves make up the final A-level grade.

For those with proficiency on an instrument as well as openness to a number of styles, Music A level provides an excellent vehicle for the expansion and development of a musical life. Results in recent years have been outstanding and many pupils have taken the subject as part of an application profile to Russell Group and Oxbridge universities.

The course involves performing, composing, listening to and analysing music. You will improve your skills as a performer and composer studying both ‘classical’ and ‘popular’ styles of music. You will listen to and analyse a wide variety of music, developing a more informed appreciation of how, and why, it was written. Examples of the music you will study: The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Abba, Stevie Wonder, Oasis, Metallica, Haydn, Mozart, Berlioz, Tchaikovsky, Mahler, Debussy and Stravinsky.

The A-Level Intensive course is designed to accommodate students who have not attained the result required by their preferred university, have moved to the UK from other countries or had an interrupted education.

Music is at the heart of Kent College and our splendid music department offers a broad range of opportunity to pupils of all ages and abilities. Working within a positive and vibrant environment, our aim is for music to be both fun and productive, ensuring that pupils perform and progress to the best of their abilities.

A level courses are a natural choice for you if you have enjoyed studying and have been successful on your GCSE courses. They offer you the chance to focus your attention on a smaller number of subjects – usually 3 or 4. This helps to build your knowledge and understanding in the areas in which you have proven strengths and strong interest.

The College has chosen the AQA Music A Level Music programme as it follows on seamlessly from the AQA GCSE course we offer. It is also possible to take AS Level Music and is a perfect accompaniment to other A Level Subjects. The AS Level can be taken on its own, but can then be developed into the full A Level Music by a further year at the College, as both the AS and A Level courses follow the same curriculum.

What do you enjoy? Composing, performing? Maybe you are interested in the more analytical side of music – how styles have developed, how a piece of music is constructed? Whichever is your preference, A Level Music has something for you as the course essentially comprises these three elements. Your performing and composing will be worth 60%, with an analysis paper which counts for 40%.

Brickfields Asia College (BAC), a Cambridge International Associate Partner is proud to offer the CIE A-Level programme which would enable students to progress into degrees in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Engineering Actuarial Sciences, Pilot, Food Sciences, Forensic Science and Biomedical Sciences amongst others.

Our Year 12 students generally undertake 5 subjects at Year 12. Moreover, the Year 12 experience includes a challenging set of mid-year examinations, set in part to prepare students for the final SACE examination or external assessment experience, but also as an important component of the Partner’s Pathway in their own right. For most of the Year 12 subjects, there is a lecture-tutorial system. These sessions are designed to maximise opportunities to learn skills and concepts in an effective manner and at the same time, to extend and refine student knowledge and understanding through discussion, debate and practical activities.

All students undertake 6 subjects in each semester. For most of our students, one of these 6 subjects in the second semester is the Research Project. At Stage 1, a few subjects are offered as pairs of units, both of which are seen a prerequisites for Stage 2. Subjects in this category include English, Mathematical Methods, Specialist Maths, Physics, Chemistry and General Mathematics. However, most of the subjects offered at Year 11 are offered as single units. These provide the opportunity for students to try a range of subjects before making a commitment at Year 12.
