A-levels are internationally recognised qualifications. Universities in many countries will accept three A level A-C grades as meeting the admissions criteria across a wide range of courses.

Biology A Level consists of lectures, discussion, fieldwork, practical work and investigations.

A Level Biology A offers an exciting, context-based approach to learning about the natural world. This course has been designed to motivate students by helping them realise how an understanding of many of today’s contemporary issues require the knowledge and understanding of underpinning biological principles

It is a focussed programme of study with a minimum of three subjects studied, usually over two years, with examinations in the second year. The CATS programme is specifically designed for motivated international students with additional English language support to help you excel in your studies. You can also study your A levels in one year on the CATS Fast-track programme if you want to progress to university sooner.

A level biology is the study of life itself. The course explores the theories and principles involved in all living systems. Topics you will learn about include: lifestyle, transport, genes and health, development, plants and the environment, the natural environment and species survival, energy, exercise and co-ordination, as well as practical biology and research skills. A key element of the Edexcel A level and GCSE B specifications offered is the interrelationship between people and their environments alongside an understanding of the opportunities, problems and conflicts that result.

The Core Maths qualification is for students who have passed GCSE Mathematics at Grade 5 or above but have decided not to study A Level Mathematics. It builds upon and strengthens existing skills and focuses on using and applying Mathematics to solve problems relevant to our everyday lives. Students in Social Sciences, Business, Psychology, Sciences and Health Sciences who are not taking A Level Mathematics may find the Core Maths element useful in preparing for university study where a working application of Maths or Statistics may be required.

Geography combines the study of both social and natural science. During the course you'll look at the earth and its atmosphere, as well as how human activity can affect them. You'll also look deeper in to the natural environment and how human culture interacts with different landscapes. The course will provide you with an understanding of where things are found, why they are there and how they can develop over time.

You will gain an awareness of the World and its people as well as an understanding of the latest developments in environmental issues. Engage critically with real-world issues and places and assess major issues including place identity, rising sea levels, rise of new superpowers, energy and water supplies, migration and national identity.

A-Level Maths builds on and extends GCSE knowledge and skills and introduces new ideas, such as calculus and its applications. Most of the course involves using algebra and it covers topics such as trigonometry, co-ordinate geometry, differentiation and integration (calculus), and algebraic techniques and functions. The course assessment is entirely through examination. A-Level and AS Level Maths prepare students for further study and employment in a wide range of disciplines involving the use of maths such as sciences, social sciences, engineering and business.

This A Level is included within the following A Level pathways as a recommended core subject: Environment, Geography and Earth Science; Medical Health; STEM and Healthcare. It is included in the following pathways as a recommeded additional subject: Creative Studies; Maths, Physics and Computer Science; Social Sciences. However, you can take Biology with any A Level/equivalent combination, there is plenty of choice and flexibility.
