26 Design A-level Programs

This is an exciting course which allows you to explore a vast range of design disciplines creatively. In the first instance, you will be introduced to the design process, and you will produce work through small exercises and design briefs.

3D Design Studies introduces you to a wide range of makers and designers.

An A-Level in 3D Design & Architecture will see you explore a wide range of traditional and contemporary design techniques, from scale drawing to computer-aided design

A Level Art and Design specifications offer a range of titles and specialisms that: Enable students to develop a wide range of skills and techniques, together with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of Art, Craft and Design. Embrace the current and emerging technologies including animation and games design, moving image and 3D digital design, as well as the traditional routes of art, craft and design such as drawing, painting and sculpture.

This is a two year study programme which is equivalent to 3 A Levels, however a one year option is also available which is equivalent to 1.5 A Levels. Both programme years will accrue UCAS points should your chosen progression route be a UK university.

By studying A Level Design and Technology, you will learn core technical, design, and manufacturing principles and additional specialist knowledge in material science and applications, manufacturing techniques, CAD/CAM skills, and how new technologies influence design.

The Eduqas A level in Design and Technology offers a unique opportunity in the curriculum for learners to identify and solve real problems by designing and making products or systems. Design and Technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject.

Students studying Textiles will have the opportunity to work with a variety of textile materials and techniques. Problem solving will encourage independent learning and creativity, with relevant images, artefacts and resources being integral to the process. The students will have the opportunity to study a range of areas including the history of textile design, contemporary design, costume design and domestic textiles including wallpaper.

Our Art and Design A Level course offers students many opportunities to get involved in their area of interest.

Within Design Engineering, you will work with principles and concepts that will develop your skills as a budding engineer to progress to Higher Education or industry, ensuring that your learning direction supports progression beyond A-Level.

These specifications directly support progression to further and higher education and provide students with a rich platform to inspire a lifelong interest in art and design.

Do you possess a lively, enquiring mind? Do you enjoy developing your ideas through drawing and utilising a range of processes towards a final product? During the Illustration/Graphics course, you will learn to develop design solutions, exploring the power of visual communication as an invaluable commercial tool. The course is structured to support and develop your confidence and individual strengths, from illustrative and traditional studio-based skills through to more graphics and digitally based practice, allowing for a broad and creative approach to design.

Do you have an interest in modelling your three dimensional ideas using traditional materials such as card, wood, and expanded foam, but also wish to explore the possibilities of computer design and computer modelling? This course offers you the opportunity to both develop your creative practice and your understanding of the wider design industries including Product Design, Architecture and Interior Design.

This course is designed for creative people with an artistic flair and a keen eye for detail. Art and design is a broad subject which incorporates lots of different styles and techniques. During the course you will have the opportunity to tailor your learning to suit your individual interests and future career goals. You will have the opportunity to deepen your understanding of contextual and cultural art, and have the chance to build a collection of work for your portfolio to demonstrate your knowledge, skills and understanding of the subject.
