4 Dance A-level Programs

Through technique and choreography classes, you will learn about both historical and current dance practices ensuring that you will be inspired by the dance world around you! You will study a range of dance styles before deciding which styles to use for your final assessment.

To touch, to move, to inspire - this is the true gift of dance. Exploring the work of some of the foremost names in dance will lead to giving you an understanding of their techniques and how to apply them to your own creative work, developing your confidence as an inspiring choreographer, whilst also developing your skills as a performer.

We follow the AQA specification at Bilborough Sixth Form College. You’ll be taught in a dedicated dance studio, with a sprung floor, mirrored walls, and portable sound and lighting equipment. Practical exams take place in our wonderfully equipped Theatre. It is desirable, but not essential, that you have dance experience – and you must show enthusiasm, passion and a willingness to experiment with different styles.

A Level Dance is an exciting, challenging course that explores theory through the practical application of knowledge. It is totally different from any private dance tuition you may have experienced and celebrates many different styles, from ballet to jazz. Everyone brings something different to the course and you will grow in confidence as you actively develop your own choreographic voice within a collaborative, supportive environment.
