23 Business A-level Programs

The syllabus covers economic, environmental, ethical, governmental, legal, social and technological issues, and encourages a critical understanding of organisations, the markets they serve and the process of adding value. Learners examine the management of organisations and, in particular, the process of decision-making in a dynamic external environment.

A Level Business is a qualification highly valued by universities and is an excellent pathway to include degrees in Business Management, Economics, Human Resources, Marketing and Accounting. The course provides an excellent understanding of business concepts that will assist you within the commercial world, whether running your own business or as an employee. A Level of Business Studies could lead you to a wide range of career choices, including Marketing Executive roles, Accountancy, Events Management, Management Consultancy and working in human resources.

This a Level is Included Within the Following a Level Pathways as a Recommended Core Subject: Business and Entrepreneurship; Financial Academy and in the Following Pathways as a Recommended Additional Subject: Creative Arts; Design and Media; Engineering; Law and Legal. However, You Can Choose Business With Any a Level/equivalent Combination, There is Plenty of Choice and Flexibility.

This course is designed to give you a critical understanding of organisations, their markets and their external environment. It provides a valuable insight into all financial aspects of commercial and non-commercial organisations. If you are an aspiring business owner or are looking to study Business at university, then this is the course for you.

The A Level programme is studied at Level 3 over a two year period. You will study in a traditional way where your final grades will be based on end of year exams.

Further study and career opportunities If you’d like to study business, finance or management at university, A-level Business provides an excellent foundation. Progress to a HND in Business at University Centre Peterborough or other business degrees at university in areas such as Management, Marketing, HR or Finance. Business apprenticeships in sectors such as Accounting, Business Administration, Customer Service and Management are also available.

Love the film? Then A Level Film Studies is the course for you. You will develop your analysis skills by studying film as an art form, exploring a wide range of films, from art-house movies to blockbusters to Bollywood.

This subject allows students to develop an enthusiasm for studying business through gaining a holistic understanding of business in a range of contexts. This is a subject that requires an enquiring and analytical mind, an aptitude for calculating data and a keen interest in current affairs and world financial news. During the course, students will gain an understanding of business organisations, how they organise themselves and what factors have an impact on their success. You will examine the ethical dilemmas and responsibilities faced by organisations and individuals including the strategies they use to achieve success.

An understanding of business is beneficial in a wide range of careers, from accountancy to financial advice through to sales management and consultancy, while it is also invaluable in setting up your own business and working in senior management and strategic roles across the sectors. Through the study of business at A-level at our sixth form centre at University College Birmingham, you will develop knowledge and skills that can be beneficial in a range of different industries.

The content is designed to engage students through topics and issues that are relevant in today's society. In addition to the classic business functions you will study key contemporary developments such as digital technology and business ethics, while the impact of globalisation is covered throughout the topics.

You will study the full range of business topics from entrepreneurship to globalisation. This includes all aspects of marketing, finance, human resources, operations, strategic decision-making and global business. The overall purpose of the programme is to study the internal functions of contemporary business organizations at both AS and A2 level. You will also learn how to recognize the nature of problems in businesses, solving problems and making decisions using appropriate business tools.

The Business & Finance, A Level Professional Honours Programme, will help you to understand the nature and scope of business and financial functions and the economic environment in which they exist.
