It’ll cost between 10,000ROM (US$2400) and 24,600ROM (US$6040). Programs like medicine and engineering generally come in at the higher end of this range.

Before arriving in Romania, most schools will ask you to pay a deposit of at least one semester’s worth of fees. This can vary from school to school.

As for student loans, these don’t really exist in Romania. Many students rely on pre-existing money or take out bank loans. Although it doesn’t have a student loan scheme to speak of, Romania does have a good number of scholarships on offer.

Many scholarships from the Romanian government are geared towards STEM subjects, but there are lots available for all kinds of subjects from individual schools, NGOs and, in some cases, even your home country. A list of Romanian government scholarships can be found here.

For other kinds of scholarships, you’ll have to dig around and do some homework. Applications can only normally be made in either Romanian or English.
