Campus Features
We are home to over 16,000 students from more than 140 countries, across three campuses close to London. Our largest campus is in Colchester, a beautiful, friendly campus in the oldest recorded town in the UK. We also have an Acting school in London and a campus near the beach in Southend-on-Sea. Whatever campus, students will be studying and living within a vibrant and diverse global community; a great place to call home.
We offer a variety of exciting and comfortable accommodation, from studios to single en suite rooms and retro Towers to Townhouses, to suit all budgets.
We also have adapted rooms and shared accommodation available, so you'll be able to find the perfect place for you.

Awards & Accreditations
Renowned for research in social science, human rights and data analytics, Essex is consistently ranked number one for politics (REF), and are the only university to be awarded a Regius Professorship for Political Science by The Queen. We are proud to be 52nd for Social Sciences in the THE World University Rankings (2021).
Campus Life & Facilities
Essex offers an enriched university experience. We encourage our students to get involved inside and outside the classroom whether that's one of our 120 sports clubs and societies, learning another language, getting a part-time job or doing a year of study abroad. We provide a large range of scholarships and support to our students which has been needed more than ever since the pandemic began.
