International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship

The Center for Language Education and Cooperation offers this scholarship each year with the goal of satisfying the growing demand for Chinese language teachers and facilitating Chinese language education in other countries.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to non-Chinese citizens between the ages of 16 and 35 who are in good physical and mental condition, possess an above average academic record, and are committed to Chinese language education.

AWARD: Recipients will be awarded full coverage on tuition fees, accommodation fees, living allowance and comprehensive medical insurance. Amount of the allowance varies depending on the type of scholarships.

Boren Scholarships

The Boren Awards fund the intensive study of language and culture abroad by U.S. undergraduate or graduate students. All eligible applicants have the option to either apply for a Regional Flagship Language Initiative or select/design their own study program.

ELIGIBILITY: These scholarships are open to U.S. citizens planning an overseas program in one of the selected countries. (China is listed). Further eligibility varies depending on undergraduate Boren Scholars and graduate Boren Fellows.

AWARD: Recipient awards range between $8,000 and $25,000 USD depending on the program.

Beijing Government Scholarship

The Beijing Government started this scholarship program in order to reward the academic excellence of international students. Their aim is to attract more foreign students to study in Beijing so as to promote the internationalization of Beijing’s higher education.

Guanghua School of Management Scholarships

Guanghua School of Management at Peking University proudly finances a handful of scholarships intended to reward their academically talented business students from around the world. University of Hong Kong Scholarships

The University of Hong Kong believes that both domestic and international students should be able to receive the financial aid they need in order to pursue higher education. Therefore, they offer multiple scholarships open to both native and non-native students enrolled at HKU.

Shaanxi Normal University Pearl International Scholarship

The Shaanxi Normal University CSC Scholarship is funded by the Chinese government and gives international students an opportunity to pursue higher education in China, while experience Chinese culture and language, without worrying about financial constraints.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to all international students who are no older than 30 years of age for the Undergraduate Degree, 35 years for the Master's degree and 40 years for the PhD. The candidates must also be in good health and proficient in English.

AWARD: Recipients will be awarded a 100% fee waivers, accommodation, medical insurance (800RMB) and a monthly allowance - 2500 for Bachelor’s degree students, 3000 RMB for Master’s degree students, and 3500 RMB For Ph.D. degree students.

University of Nottingham- China Scholarships

The University of Nottingham in Ningbo, China offers various scholarships for international students, which aim to reward excellence and promote diversity amongst their student body. Nearly 30% of their international undergraduate students and over 40% of their international postgraduate students are awarded scholarships each year.

Tsinghua University's Schwarzman Scholars Program

Tsinghua University in Beijing offers this one-year Master’s program, designed to build a global community of future leaders who will serve to deepen the understanding between China and the rest of the world.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to both domestic and international students between 18-29 years of age, who currently possess a valid passport, a Bachelors degree and are proficient in English.

AWARD: Recipients will be awarded 100% tuition fee waivers.

Wenzhou-Kean University International Freshmen Scholarships

Wenzhou-Kean University offers scholarships for International students who are enrolled in their first year at WKU. This scholarship is intended to reward International students for making the big decision to study abroad in China.

ELIGIBILITY: These scholarships are open to all freshmen enrolled at WKU.

AWARD: Recipients will be awarded either a 50% or 100% tuition fee waiver for the duration of their freshman year.

Chinese Government Scholarships

Chinese Government Scholarships - EU Window Program

The EU Window Chinese Government Scholarship, facilitated by the Ministry of Education of China, sponsors students and scholars from EU member countries to undertake degree studies, Chinese language study or academic researches in Chinese higher education institutions.

ELIGIBILITY: This program is open to citizens of EU countries in good health. Applicants must be under 25 years of age for undergraduate programs, under 35 for master's, under 40 for doctoral, under 45 for general scholars, and under 50 for senior scholars. Chinese proficiency (HSK 3-4) is required, along with meeting university admission standards.

AWARD: The EU Program provides a full scholarship of tuition waiver, accommodation, stipend, and comprehensive medical insurance.

Chinese Government Scholarships - AUN Program

The China-AUN Scholarship, in collaboration with the China Scholarship Council, provides 30 full scholarships each year to citizens of ASEAN member countries for Master's and Doctoral degrees in China.

ELIGIBILITY: This fellowship is available to citizens of ASEAN countries who are in good health. For master's programs, applicants should have a bachelor's degree and be under 35 years old. For doctoral programs, applicants must possess a master's degree and be under the age of 40. Proficiency in Chinese or English is essential, along with meeting the selected universities' admission criteria.

AWARD: Recipients will receive HK$331,200 (approximately US$42,460) annually and a HK$13,800 (approximately US$1,760) travel allowance for up to three years.

Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Government Scholarships for Neighboring Countries

Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Government Scholarships for Neighboring Countries are full scholarships. Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regional Office of Education is responsible for enrollment and the day to day management of international students from neighboring countries.

Chinese Trade Unions Silk Road Scholarship

To develop the friendly relations between trade unions of China and countries along the “Belt and Road”, CTUSRS provides a full scholarship to scholars to study Chinese for one year.

ELIGIBILITY: The applicant must be a citizen of a country other than the PRC, and preferably from one of the countries along the “Belt and Road” and in sound physical and mental health.

AWARD: CTUSRS provides a full scholarship award covering all program-related expenses including tuition waiver, accommodation, comprehensive medical insurance, stipends and one-time international round-trip air fare.

MOFCOM Scholarship

MOFCOM Scholarship is set up by the Ministry of Commerce of People’s Republic of China to further strengthen the communication and cooperation between China and other countries, as well as to develop talents for developing countries. Starting from 2015, MOFCOM Scholarship mainly sponsors the young and the middle-aged talents from recipient countries to pursue their postgraduate degree education in China and entrusts China Scholarship Council to administer the Scholarship.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to students meeting the following requirements: be a citizen of a developing country other than the People’s Republic of China, and under the age of 45; Be healthy physically and mentally with a physical examination report issued by a local public hospital, and not having any disease or situation listed. With at least three years’ working experience; be a bachelor’s degree holder when applying for master’s program & be a master’s degree holder when applying for doctoral program; be sufficient in English which meets the academic requirements of the program, be equivalent to IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 80 and above level.

AWARD: Students are exempt from tuition fee, teaching material fee, research and survey fee, allowance of English-taught program, dissertation guidance fee; monthly stipend- 36000RMB per year per master student, 42000RMB per year per PhD student;, One-off resettlement fee: 3000RMB per person;, medical insurance for international students and international airfare.

Bilateral Program For Bachelors Degree

In order to promote the mutual understanding, cooperation and exchanges in politics, economy, culture, education and trade between China and other countries, the Chinese government has set up a series of scholarship programs to sponsor international students, teachers and scholars to study and conduct research in Chinese universities.

ELIGIBILITY: The bilateral program is open to undergraduates, postgraduates, general and senior scholars.

AWARD: Recipients will be awarded a living allowance of ¥1,400 CNY per month.

Hubei Provincial Scholarships

In order to adapt the development of study abroad in china and increase the use efficiency of scholarships for international students, Hubei Province has established regulations of Hubei Provincial Scholarships Management for the purpose of talent cultivation, scientific research, social service, and cultural exchanges in universities and colleges.

Fujian Provincial Government Scholarship

The government of Fujian Province has established the fujian Government Scholarship for international students in an effort to further promote the development and make progress on scale, level and service ability of the international students’ education oin the Fujian Province and attract more academically excellent international students to study in Fujian.

ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health. Educational background and age requirements are as follows: for Bachelor's programs, candidates should hold a high school diploma or above and be under the age of 30; for Master's programs, a bachelor's degree or above is necessary, and candidates should be under the age of 35; for Doctoral programs, candidates should hold a master's degree or above and be under the age of 40. Additionally, applicants should have a Chinese proficiency level equivalent to HSK band 3 or above.

AWARD: Students will receive scholarships of RMB 30,000/year for bachelor's programs; RMB 40,000/year for master's programs RMB 50,000/year for doctoral programs.

HKSAR Government Scholarship Fund

With a view to attracting outstanding local students to advance their studies at home, and meritorious non-local students to pursue higher education opportunities in Hong Kong, the Government established in 2008 the $1 billion HKSAR Government Scholarship Fund (the Fund) to recognize outstanding local and non-local students.

ELIGIBILITY: The scholarships are open to all students pursuing full-time publicly-funded undergraduate or sub-degree programmes in Hong Kong.

AWARD: Undergraduate applicants will be awarded $40,000 HKD per year (for local students) or $80,000 HKD per year (for non-local students). Sub-degree students will be awarded between $20,000 to $30,000 per year for both local and non-local students.

Sichuan Provincial Government Scholarship

The scholarship is applicable to the higher education institutions of Sichuan Province which are entitled to enroll foreign students.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to excellent doctoral students, master’s students, undergraduate students, junior college students and long term students who are studying in the relevant institutions and who are applying to study in the institutions. The students will receive the scholarship every year until they finish their studies on the premise that they are approved by the institutions every year.

Shanghai Government Scholarship for Masters Degree

Jinan University CSC Scholarship

Jinan University CSC Scholarship aims to support the development of China’s computer science industry and promote international exchange between China and other countries. It is a full-time study abroad program for undergraduate and graduate students who are majoring in computer science.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to non-Chinese citizens in good health. Age limits for Undergraduate Degree is 30 year, for Masters degree is 35 year, and For Ph.D. is 40 Years.

Established by the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong in 2009, the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) aims at attracting the best and brightest students in the world to pursue their PhD studies in Hong Kong's universities.

ELIGIBILITY: This fellowship is open to international applicants for full-time PhD programs in any of Hong Kong's eight designated universities. Eligibility is based on strong academics, research potential, and excellent communication and leadership skills.

Scholarships to Study Abroad in India

Google PhD Fellowship Program

The Google PhD Fellowship Program supports outstanding graduate students worldwide who are conducting innovative research in computer science and related fields. The program aims to build inclusive research communities and is open to diverse backgrounds.

ELIGIBILITY: This fellowship is open to full-time PhD students worldwide, excluding Google employees and previous awardees from specific regions. Further eligibility varies depending on the region.

Scholarships to Study Abroad in Indonesia

KNB Scholarship

The KNB Scholarship, funded by the Indonesian government, helps students from developing countries by providing financial support for their education in Indonesia, contributing to international collaboration and enhancing the global academic community.

ELIGIBILITY: The scholarship is open to Bachelor's degree applicants (up to 25 years old) with a high school degree and specified English proficiency requirements (IBT TOEFL of 80, IELTS of 6.0, TOEIC of 700). For Master's degree applicants (up to 35 years old), a bachelor's degree and English proficiency (IBT TOEFL of 80, IELTS of 6.0, TOEIC of 700) are required. Doctorate degree applicants (up to 40 years old) need a master's degree and a TOEFL score of 90 or an IELTS score of 7.0 (or equivalent).

INPEX Scholarships for Japanese Students

The INPEX Scholarship Foundation promotes cultural exchange by awarding Japanese students scholarships to study in Indonesia, Australia, and the UAE.

ELIGIBILITY: These scholarships are open to Japanese nationals under 35 with a Bachelor's Degree from a prestigious Japanese university. Applicants must aim to study and research cultural, social, or natural sciences in Indonesia, Australia, or the UAE.

Scholarships to Study Abroad in Japan

Keio University International Scholarships

Keio University offers internal scholarships to their international undergraduate and graduate students. These grants only last a year, but students can reapply each year in hopes of getting it again. Around 220 graduate students and 310 undergraduate students are selected for these scholarships annually. In addition to the scholarships below, there are other scholarships offered by specific campuses.

ELIGIBILITY: These scholarships are open to international privately funded students who are already enrolled at KU. Further eligibility varies between undergraduate and graduate students.  

AWARD: Undergraduate recipients will be awarded between 100,000 and 800,000 JPY, and graduate recipients will be awarded between 500,000 and 600,000 JPY.

Kumamoto University Scholarships

Kumamoto University offers 22 different honors scholarships to their international students. These scholarships cover a wide range of fields and programs so that more students have a chance at receiving financial aid.

INPEX Scholarships

INPEX scholarship foundation fosters understanding between Indonesia, Japan, Australia, and the UAE by awarding scholarships for postgraduate studies in Natural, Cultural, or Social Science in Japan.

ELIGIBILITY: The scholarship is open to Indonesian nationals under 30 with a SARJANA Degree in natural science (GPA 3.00+), Australians under 30 with a GPA of 3.0 (out of 5), UAE nationals under 30 with a GPA of 3.00+.

AWARD: Recipients will be awarded 100% fee waivers for tuition and travel, in addition to monthly stipends of 160,000 JPY.

IMF Scholarship Program for Asia

The Japan-IMF Scholarship Program for Asia supports graduate studies in macroeconomics or related fields at leading universities in Japan. JISPA provides educational opportunities to promising junior officials from economic agencies in the Asia-Pacific region in hopes of growing their economic capacity.  

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to workers for a key economic agencies such as central banks, ministries of economy, ministries of finance, or financial regulatory agencies. Applicants must speak fluent English and possess a Bachelors degree, in addition to being a citizen of one of the following countries: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Lao P.D.R., Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Pacific Island Countries, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam

Toyohashi University of Technology Aichi Scholarship Program

Toyohashi University of Technology offers their Aichi Scholarship Program to allow students from across Asia to enroll in graduate school at TUT after a six-month research period, in order to study specialized fields that support Aichi's manufacturing industry. After completing their courses, these students will then be highly expected to seek employment within the city of Aichi.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to students under the age of 35 who possess a Bachelors degree. Applicants must be a citizen of UN member state except Japan and North Korea. Applicants must also have good enough command of the Japanese language to study and seek employment, or have the prospect of obtaining sufficient language ability.

AWARD: Recipients will be awarded 100% fee waivers for tuition and travel, in addition to a monthly stipend of 150,000 JPY.

ADB-Japan Scholarship Program

The ADB-Japan Scholarship Program offers about 135 graduate scholarships a year for studies in economics, business and management, science and technology, and other development-related fields.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to students under the age of 35 who have already obtained a Bachelors degree. Applicants must also gain admission to one of the 25 Japanese universities partnered with ADB, and be a citizen of one of the assistance eligible countries.

AWARD: Recipients will be awarded monthly allowances and 100% fee waivers for tuition, travel, health insurance, and books. For scholars engaged in research, a special grant may be available for thesis preparation.

Waseda University International Scholarships

Waseda University offers 3 categories of scholarships for international students: Waseda University Scholarships, which are highly subject to change on a yearly basis, External Scholarships with University Recommendation and Open External Scholarships (open application).

The Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship

This scholarship is funded by the Government of Japan and targets young government officials who are expected to contribute to the development of their country. Here students will learn the expert knowledge needed for policy making and institutional building for a country's development.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to young government officials and others from the countries of Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Kyrgyz Republic, Laos, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Republic of Kenya, Republic of Senegal, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Timor-Leste, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.

Tohoku University ROIS Scholarship

Tohoku University offers their Research-Oriented Incoming Student Scholarship to qualified international students who are planning an exchange in Japan during the course of their postgraduate program.

ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship is open to international applicants who are majoring in a field of natural science. Applicants must also be enrolled as regular graduate students at a home institution, that has a university or department-level student exchange agreement with TU.

Fulbright Scholarships- Japan

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program provides grants for individually designed study/research projects or for English teaching assistant programs. The Dr Goh Keng Swee Scholarship is a private sector scholarship administered by the Association of Banks in Singapore. Singapore International Graduate Award

The Singapore International Graduate Award is a collaboration between the Agency for Science, Technology & Research (A*STAR), the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the National University of Singapore (NUS), the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), and the Singapore Management University (SMU).
