More about Event Management

Study event management! The study of event management provides students with the skills to realize and develop events, whether business meetings or football games. The scope and scale of projects that require event management is extensive.

Event managers must understand the requirements of the brand; identify the target audience; devise the event concept; and manage the planning, logistics and coordinating of technical aspects before actually executing the proposed event successfully. An event management degree provides this knowledge in addition to the training and skill set necessary to organize and run your own events.

There is a high demand for skilled event managers today as the popularity of festivals and events grows around the world. The frequency and scale of large international events combined with client expectations and the degree of organization required has also contributed to an increased need for skilled event managers.

Education courses in event management often incorporate modules of hospitality and tourism and are available as diplomas, Masters and Bachelors degrees, and PhDs.

In addition to focusing on event management itself, an event management degree trains students in a number of related areas. The study of event management can be incorporated with other similar study courses, the most popular of which are:

Event management & project management

Event management degrees are intrinsically linked with project management. Event management students learn to effectively organize and manage a project from its inception to execution, learning skills such as budgeting, human resource management and planning.

Event management & marketing

In order for an event to be successful, it must be attended by relevant people. Event management degrees can incorporate marketing theory, teaching students how to market and promote their events and to attract the right crowd in making the event a success.

Event management & logistics

The logistics of any event are a critical consideration for any event planner. Event management courses teach students how to ensure that every component is fits together perfectly.

Event management & hospitality

The influence of hospitality on event management has increased dramatically. Corporate events and large international sporting events all yield huge budgets through corporate hospitality. Students that study hospitality are taught to accommodate clients and ensure a positive experience.
