Studies in the artistic field allows you to explore and evolve your interests and abilities weather they are theoretical or practical. And if you want to go on to working after your education there are numerous careers at hand, weather you want to be a stuggling artist or a preservationist at a museum. 

Studying Art

In studying Art you will both learn how to produce art and to critically analyze the work of other artists as well as your peers. You will also read about and discuss all different kinds of artistic work; architechture, photography, painting and sculpture to name a few. In all areas of every-day life we come in contact with easthetic components that will raise questions such as; What is art? and Who is an artist? These discussions will deepen your understanding of the complex artistic field and the different academic approaces to art.

Studying Art History

If you choose to study Art History you will be well served by your previous experiences in other fields as well your understanding of art. Understanding of different historical periods and analytical experiences will help you on your way to analyzing, understanding and theorizing art and its different stylistic contexts. In your work you will use these historical facts to make sence of the piece in mind. The art history field has with time become more and more inclusive of female artists as well as non-western art wich was previously seldom seen in art history literature. This makes for an even more interesting, inspiring and useful education.

Career Opportunities With an Arts Degree

With an arts degree at hand you can pursue a large number of different careers depending on how much of your specialist skill you wish to incorporate in your future career.

For those have really enjoyed studying art or art history it might be a good idea to make real use of the specialist knowlegde you have achieved through your major, You may have a career in research, archeology, anthropology, film, translation, welfare etc. But have in mind that these often requiremore than a pass degree, sometimes even a PhD degree.

If you do not feel you want to use your achieved special knowledges quite to the extent explained above there are of course options for you with a bachelor degree as well, some careers you may find interesting are: Teaching, museum/gallery work, library & information management, publishing or other media related jobs.

In the arts field in particular there are many options even for those who do not have an academic degree background, though your academic achievments often still are taken into account to give an indication of development, detertmination and interest in the subject.
