More about Architecture

Architecture as a field of work thus stretches from interior design and furniture to regional planning and urban construction. Many architects work in private offices of varying size or as consultants. Most offices are relatively small and one-man companies are common. Generally, government agencies clearly outnumber private enterprises in number of employees. Today, architecture usually requires a team of specialist professionals, with the architect being one of many, although usually the team leader.

Being an architect is a constantly evolving role, and is central to the design and implementation of public and private environments. In order to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to design, plan and oversee a diverse range of projects, architects must pass extensive formal education, and gain a requisite amount of professional practice. Studying architecture at a university or college abroad is in this context a valuable experience. Studying architecture involves studying a wide range of subjects, including writing, design, graphics, computer applications, art history, mathematics, physics, structural systems, and building and materials construction. Classes in architecture are often case oriented and evolve around projects, why a certain aptitude for project-based learning is favorable. Other elements that complement projects in class include excursions, the history of architecture, and material studies. A sample of subject areas in architecture:
