The University of Pécs is the oldest, and one of the largest, in Hungary with over 30,000 students. The university follows the traditional european university structure whereby different faculties exist, specialising in particular areas of study.
The Institute of Psychology is part of the Faculty of Humanities and itself is subdivided into three departments: General and Evolutionary Psychology; Personality, Developmental & Clinical Psychology and Social Psychology. The Department of Psychology was founded in 1960 and now offers Psychology courses in English for international students.
The study of psychology spans the areas of both Science and the Humanities, and overlaps with other disciplines in which an understanding of behaviour is important. The department is an important research centre, which enhances its teaching through attracting world-class faculty members and exposing its students to the latest theory and techniques.
