Hospitable atmosphere, multicultural environment
In
my final years at high school I knew I wanted to study a speciality related to
the natural sciences. Searching the Internet for international universities, I came
across the 4-year Bachelor in Water Management at HZ University of Applied
Sciences. Important in my decision was the fact that, as we all know, the
Netherlands is said to be the best in dealing with water problems.
Before I finally made up my mind, I
contacted some students in this specialty and I was amazed about their
readiness to answer my e-mails. All of them were positive, plus the strategic
place of Vlissingen from a ‘water’ point of view, convinced me to make my
choice for studying at HZ. Moreover, the Bachelor programme of Water Management
was estimated to be the best water-related course in the Netherlands.
If
I was asked to describe the facilities at HZ or comment on the university in
general, I would say: “nothing excessive, but everything you need”. My class
now consists of some 15 (+ several Dutch students) people from over 10
countries, which helps us in tolerating and accepting each other’s differences.
Since the beginning of the course, we have visited some areas in the
Netherlands where we have been given the chance to see in practice what the work
of a water manager is all about. That definitely makes you feel more confident
in following your studies as you know what you are being trained for. Up till now,
I have no regrets that I made the choice to come here and study Water
Management at HZ in Vlissingen.
