Roskilde University is a state university founded in 1972 with the objective of providing research and education at the highest level in the fields of natural science, social science and the humanities.

The university provides unique Combination master’s programmes & Single-subject master’s programmes in various field.
Located a few kilometres to the east of the town of Roskilde and approximately 30 kilometres west of the Danish capital, Copenhagen, the University is the daily place of work for around 8000 students, 700 researchers and lecturers as well as 250 technical/administrative staff in the 50 buildings which comprise the campus.
Roskilde University has its own printing press, which provides for the printing of everything from project reports and research reports to RUCNyt; the official newspaper of the University, issued every month.
Accommodation
Roskilde University has a centralised accommodations office that assists international students in finding accommodation. Failure to meet the application deadlines will entail that you are excluded from their list - i.e. you will need to conduct the housing search entirely on your own. Once, you have submitted your timely application and you have been admitted to RoskildeUniversity, the accommodations office will contact you directly with housing application. Visa and residence permit
If you are a student from outside the EU/EEA countries, you should take immediate action to secure that your visa is processed in due time. Please consult the Danish representation in your country of origin to collect information on how to apply for a visa/residence permit. If you apply as a guest student, you will receive an official letter of acceptance - this letter must be included in your application for a temporary residence permit/visa to Denmark. Please note that the application procedure may be quite time-consuming at that you should start the procedure once you receive the letter of acceptance.

If you are a student from one of the EU/EEA countries, you may start the application process for a residence permit upon your arrival to Denmark. However, you must initiate the process before your 90 days in DK has expired. Failure to comply may result in your residence permit application being denied and you being expelled from DK.

To be clear a residence permit is meant for studying! Hence, it does not open up the possibility for you to work here! If you don't attend your classes and/or your exams the university will not hesitate to inform the Danish Immigrations Services who will take appropriate measures. Roskilde University operates a zero-tolerance policy against students who do not comply with the regulation stated above.
