As one of the first universities in the world to offer cooperative education RIT had over 3,500 co-op students, who  alternated periods of study on campus with paid employment in nearly 2,000 firms across the United States and overseas. RIT values experience as well as previous academic study and is therefore able to waiver specific course requirements on the basis of prior learning, including professional experience or similar courses that you have taken at other institutions.

Facilities and technology

Having invested more than $300 million in the renovation and construction of new academic and student life facilities over the past 10 years, it’s an understatement to say that RIT offers state of the art facilities.  

The sophisticated and high-tech campus is reputedly ranked as one of the US’s most connected campuses by the Princeton Review.  Free, direct and high speed computing access is offered throughout the classrooms, labs, residence halls, and public areas on campus.

Scholarships at RIT

Rochester Institute of Technology offers scholarships based on the strength of the qualifications of applicants. In 2011-2012, RIT provided over $16.5 million in merit scholarships and graduate assistantship tuition remission to approximately 2,100 graduate students.

RIT also provides its students with over 9,000 on-campus jobs every school year.
