Radboud University offers Research Master's programme in Molecular Mechanisms of Disease. Cells organize and rule our bodies. Disturbances in cellular processes can lead to serious disorders such as metabolism and immune diseases, heart and circulation problems, cancer, and the diseases that come with age. The Nijmegen Centre for Molecular Life Sciences (NCMLS) plays a leading role in the fight against these diseases. This research institute engages in a continual exchange of knowledge and expertise between clinic and research laboratory. This is possible thanks to close cooperation with the nearby University Medical Centre. As a student in the Research Master's programme Molecular Mechanisms of Disease, you will find yourself in a dynamic research environment - one in which every new theoretical insight may be the key to a new medicine or better diagnosis and treatment.
Education is closely linked to NCMLS's research programme. The scientists in this internationally recognized institute are experts in the following fields:
- Infection, immunity and tissue repair (in diseases such as AIDS and malaria)
- Metabolism, transport and motion (in diseases such as diabetes)
Cell growth and differentiation (in diseases such as cancer and Alzheimer)
- During your Master's programme you will specialize in one of these areas.
Each year we select the top 10% of students, who apply from around the world. In fact, two-thirds of our students come from abroad. As a Master's student you will find yourself in the company of ambitious, highly-motivated students. The programme is intensive and stimulating with plenty of room for discussion and involvement. You will have a personal mentor with whom you will plan your individual programme of study and discuss future options. During each internship - the second of which will be abroad - you will also have an individual supervisor. Thanks to the international networks built up by our scientists, there are many opportunities for challenging internships.
