
Opened in 2001, Monash South Africa is a campus of the Monash University, Australia and is located in Ruimsig, 25 kilometres northwest of Johannesburg city centre. It is fully owned by Monash University and is one of eight campuses worldwide which collectively teach almost 60,000 students.
The South African campus continues the tradition of Monash University as a global leader in education and research. Undergoing rapid expansion since being established in 2001, the campus offers high-tech lecture theatres and tutorial rooms, a library and learning commons with access to the fully digitised Monash periodical and serials collection, computer labs with cutting-edge PCs, a student association office, a bookshop and a bistro. Sports facilities on campus include two basketball/netball courts and a large multi-purpose playing field.
