Molecular Research and Biotechnology

Avans offers a Molecular Research and Biotechnology Bachelor programme. This program includes both bourses and practicals, and the second term is a 6 months long training period at a national institution or company. During the fourth term students have the opportunity of practising research at an (inter)national institution or company for 6 months.

A 2 year post-high school program in Laboratory biology

Every foreign student will need to apply via the website of 'Studielink'. Studielink is an on-line enrolment wizard that allows you to apply for enrolment or re-enrolment in a course at a government-funded institution of higher education.

Research on AML (acute myeloid leukemia)
Bio-informatics: leukemia microarray

Semester 2
Training period of 6 months in an (inter)national institution or company

Semester 3

Minor Biotechnology and Biochemistry
- Genetics and physiology of microorganisms
- Fermentation technology
- Plant biotechnology
- Advanced biochemistry
- Writing an English paper

Projects:
Fermentation process
Enzymes: working on a biotechnological interesting product from archaea or bacteria
Biomolecules: Metabolic pathway engineering of Lactobacillus species or Phaffia rhodozyma

Semester 4
Research period of 6 months in an (inter)national institution or company
Graduation

Bachelor of Applied Science

The tuition fee for EU and EEA students is approximately 1,600 Euro for two semesters.

The tuition fee for non-EU and non-EEA students is 7,500 Euro for two semesters.
