The Masters in Industrial Engineering and Management at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands is an education course which teaches students how to deal with the practical problems of a business and how to reach solutions from a technical and scientific perspective. The education course focuses on learning how to deal with practical problems in business and obtain technical, scientific solutions. The education curriculum includes 65% technical courses and 35% management courses.

Groningen's 2-year Masters in Industrial Engineering and Management aims to gain a thorough overview of the primary and secondary business processes includes three specializations:

  • PTL: Production Technology and Logistics
  • IE: Information Engineering
  • PPT: Product and Process Technology

Students must choose which specialization they wish to study from the start of the Masters in Industrial Engineering and Management education programme. This education course aims to train engineers in gaining a complete overview of all primary and secondary business processes, particularly with respect to the design of technological products. Students learn to determine how a company can use information technology and the best methods to design information systems which adhere to the needs and strategies of the company.

Upon completion of the Masters in Industrial Engineering and Management, graduates are able to start careers as product managers, as product and process design teams, or as a leader in product-to-consumer business activities. The need for professionals with both a technical and managerial background is growing, so there are many opportunities for graduates with this valuable knowledge.
