Description and information about accommodation Leuven

Leuven

leuvenLeuven is a dynamic, vibrant city in the centre of Belgium, only a twenty-minute drive from Brussels, the capital of Belgium and of the European Union, and less than two hours from Paris and Amsterdam. Surrounded by breathtaking countryside, Leuven also teems with the nightlife, leisure, and cultural opportunities of a major city. The city of Leuven has an impressive collection of Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical monuments, of which the fifteenth-century Gothic city hall is the central pearl.

The centuries-long presence of the university has also left its mark in other areas of city life. The population of Leuven enjoys a high average level of education, as many students remain in Leuven after they have graduated. Employment is primarily in the tertiary and quaternary sectors.

Leuven is a small but lively city with a population of about 35,000 students. Student life is fully integrated into the local community.

About 80% of the university students are accommodated in privately rented student houses. The private housing market offers a wide range of rental units of varying types, price levels, and locations. Because of this variety, all international guests should come to Leuven first, view some properties, and negotiate with landlords personally before signing a contract. For this reason, it is not possible to make a reservation in advance or to arrange permanent accommodation from abroad.
