Founded in 2006, the Macromedia University for Media and Communication (MHMK) has grown to become one of Germany's leading private universities. The university is state-approved and is accredited by international agencies in-line with the Bologna framework its objective is to educate the media makers of tomorrow who with their well-rounded skills and personality will shape the media landscape of 2020. To reach this goal, the Macromedia University for Media and Communication has employed 40 professors and engaged excellent scientists and experts from media companies, universities and communications agencies.

The mission of the Macromedia University for Media and Communication is the professional and personal success of each individual student. MHMK currently enrolls 1,200 students in five campuses located in Munich, Stuttgart, Cologne, Hamburg and Berlin.

As a University of Applied Sciences, the Macromedia University for Media and Communication works with a close connection between applied research on the one hand and the study of theory and practice on the other lies at the heart of the teaching concept. Teaching is a mix of practical theory, personal experience and further exploration.

Quality is the distinguishing factor in the education sector. Being a private university, MHMK has to assert itself in a highly competitive environment. The success of the university is due to the quality of its courses and the excellent supervision our students receive, for which the Macromedia University for Media and Communication has a high standard of evaluation in place.

All courses at MHMK are accredited by Acquin or FIBAA and are reviewed every five years. The accreditation agencies assess whether our programmes adhere to the criteria of the Bologna Process and meet the standards set by the Science Council. Macromedia is also a certified training centre for Adobe software.

Intakes are generally offered in winter semester and all programs do start in winter semester of each year. Only a few programs also do start in the spring semester; for information please check out the Macromedia website or contact the MHMK international office.

MHMK in Munich

The Macromedia University for Media and Communication offers Bachelor’s degree courses for the media sector. Media Management, Journalism and Digital Media Production and Film and Television courses are run at the Munich campus.

The seminar rooms, studios and cafeteria are located in the centrally situated university building overlooking the Theresienwiese. The central university administration and the University Board, Accounting and Controlling, IT, Personnel and PR department are also located here.

MHMK in Stuttgart

The Macromedia University for Media and Communication offers Bachelor’s degree courses for the media branch. Media Management is available at the Stuttgart campus and Media Design field of study is offered as part of the Digital Media Production course. The university building in the Bad Cannstadt district of Stuttgart, not far from Wilhelma Zoo, has bright, modern seminar rooms and a cafeteria which make for an inviting atmosphere for studying.

MHMK in Cologne

The Macromedia University for Media and Communication offers Bachelor’s degree courses for the media sector. Media Management and Journalism are offered at the university campus in Cologne together with Digital Media Production and Film and Television. The Macromedia university building is centrally located in Olivandenhof, right in the city centre, and its seminar rooms and TV studio provide an amenable ambience for studying.

MHMK in Hamburg

The Macromedia University for Media and Communication runs courses for the media sector. The Hamburg campus offers courses in Media Management and Journalism. The Hamburg campus is located in Otto-von-Bahrenpark, in the west of the hanseatic city's district of Bahrenfeld. Here old industrial and factory buildings have been converted into modern offices and homes. This area of historical significance with a small centre is home to countless agencies and businesses. The attractive brick building in which the university campus can be found is conveniently central. Since the winter semester 2007/2008 Macromedia University Hamburg offers its students the term ticket for public transport (Semesterticket). Hamburg students can use the term ticket for S-Bahn and U-Bahn, buses and regional transport in the whole HVV network at any time.

MHMK in Berlin

The Macromedia University for Media and Communication offers Bachelor's degree courses for the media sector. The new campus in Berlin delivers courses in Media Management, PR and Communication and Sport and Event. For those students interested in design, it runs a course in Media Design as part of Digital Media Production. This is a good alternative to the traditional Communication Design courses.
