The Liberal Arts and Sciences Bachelor's degree program at Tilburg University is an interdisciplinary education across a variety of subjects within the Social Sciences and Humanities. These subjects may include culture, history, literature, philosophy, religion, law, business and management, psychology and sociology. The education program is the joint initiative of four schools at Tilburg University: the School of Economics and Management; the Law School; the School of Humanities; and the School of Social and Behavioural Sciences.
This 3-year Liberal Arts and Sciences Bachelor's degree program guides students in examining complex global problems from various perspectives, providing a cross-disciplinary focus. Professors of different academic backgrounds join to teach one subject - called team teaching- which aids in students' exposure to multiple perspectives.
Students take 10 education courses during year 1. In year 2, students begin specialization in one of four majors in the 2nd year. These majors are:
Year 3 is a combination of courses and writing a Thesis. Education courses teach students to use scientific reason and logic to solve problems, to think analytically and critically, to communicate effectively, and to apply knowledge to the real-world.
Upon completion of the Liberal Arts and Sciences Bachelor's degree program, graduates have a number of possible career paths available to them. With their liberal arts, interdisciplinary problem-solving skills, opportunities may arise in international business, non-profit, government, or research sectors. Job titles could be a consultant, journalist, researcher, lawyer, diplomat, advisor, or manager.
