Kurukshetra University, has a well-developed multi faculty Campus.

The Kurukshetra University was established in 1956 as a unitary residential University and its foundation stone was laid by late Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India. Located in the holy city of Kurukshetra, land of the historical battle of 'Mahabharata' and the great message of Bhagwad Gita, its campus is situated on the western bank of Brahm Sarover (the holy tank) and extends over an area of over 400 acres. Starting with only the Department of Sanskrit, it has grown into a multi-faculty University as one of the premier centres for advanced study and research in the region. The Kurukshetra University library is the heart of academic pursuits. Scientific research needs its library as well as its laboratories, while for humanistic research, the library is both library and laboratory in one. Committed to offer quality education, Kurukshetra University established the Jawahar Lal Nehru Library having a plinth area of 49,230 Sq.ft. and the facility of 370 seats in six reading areas on different floors of the library and 100 seats in the Rear Reading Hall. The Kurukshetra University library and its extension as Departmental Libraries is manned by nine well qualified professionals, one programmer, twenty-four Semi-Professionals and forty-two supporting staff. The library has 299,463 documents including 7,000 manuscripts. It subscribes to 400 journals on print media (foreign & Indian) and on line Journals/databases and under UGC-INFONET programs. The Directorate of Distance Education enrolls about 36000 students in under-graduate and post-graduate courses every year. Courses include job-oriented professional courses in the areas of Computer, IT, Commerce, Management, Finance, Marketing, Law, Tourism and Hotel Management, Journalism & Mass Communication, Library and Information Science, M.A.(Education) and B.Ed. (2 Year Course). Foreign Students can apply for admission in the Kurukshetra University through the Indian Missions abroad. They are required to contact the Assistant Registrar (Registration) with regard to the student’s visa for their admission so that they can avoid complication at a later stage from the quarters concerned. The eligibility certificate will be issued by the Assistant Registrar (Regn & Sch.) after checking all original certificates of the last or lower examinations passed from a foreign University. In case of need they can consult the International Students’ Advisor of the University. The Sports Department organizes Inter-Collegiate Championships for men and women in different sports disciplines every year. The Sports Department also conducts coaching camps for the Kurukshetra University teams for participation in the Inter-University tournaments. The University gives benefits of additional places for admission to various courses and also award Sports Stipend to outstanding sports persons.
