Kanazawa University
The Kanazawa University adheres to five fundamental principles in its basic guidelines for education and research.
Kanazawa University
aims to be “a research university that emphasizes education” and “a university that is open to the local community and to the world, and which inherits and brings innovations to mankind’s intellectual heritage”.
The university adheres to five fundamental principles in its basic guidelines for education and research: 1) to accept a diverse range of students and to train top-class people of talent, 2) to create extensive knowledge, ranging from the basics to practical applications, 3) to pioneer new subjects and to create industries, 4) to contribute to the local community and global society, and 5) to transmit information.
Kanazawa University
independently promotes the above principles from the perspective of academic freedom. We also carry out activities that are rooted in our local community and, as a base in the Japan Sea Rim area, which is so important to the East Asian sphere, we transmit information to places all over the world, fulfilling our responsibilities to society.
Kanazawa University
has two campuses, Kakuma and Takaramachi-Tsuruma.
Kakuma Campus is located in a huge natural setting, and its many orange-tan buildings harmonize with their green surroundings. It offers programs of study in seven faculties: Letters, Education, Law, Economy, Science, Pharmaceutical Science, Engineering, and five schools: Education, Human and Socio-Environment Studies, Natural Science & Technology, Law. It is also the location of the administrative offices of the University.
Takaramachi-Tsuruma Campus is the location of the Faculty of Medicine, and
Kanazawa University
Hospital with its advanced facilities for diagnosis and treatment, as well as an affiliated cancer Institute. The School of Health Science is located in an area next to the Campus. The Campus is near the downtown core, in the “academic” “Honda-no-mori” culture zone — an area that includes Kenrokuen Garden, Ishikawa Prefectural Museum of Art and Ishikawa-ken History Museum.
As one of Japan’s foremost academic cities along with Kyoto and Sendai, Kanazawa has been training many students through state-of-the-art research and studies, in an atmosphere conducive to learning.
Degree students with financial difficulties who are enrolled in the undergraduate or graduate courses are eligible to apply for tuition exemption (full or half) if they demonstrate an exemplary academic record. The scholarships provided to students are not sufficient to support all applicants. Therefore, students are recommended to prepare the necessary funding themselves. Students can apply for scholarships after enrollment.
