
All modules of the
International Diploma Pig Husbandry will be taught in a learn by doing manner with field trips but will also include theory classes and writing assignments and be finished off with a pilot project proposal which can be implemented at home.
Compulsory modules of the
International Diploma Pig Husbandry course include: Farm management economics and marketing aspects; Genetics and breeding; Health, hygiene and pathology; Housing and equipment; Record keeping and production control; Nutrition; Applied management and compilation of several reports and a pilot project.
Optional modules include: Pig breeding and artificial insemination; Pig husbandry technology; Training and extension; Food safety and Other species.
After finishing the
International Diploma Pig Husbandry course you will be able to manage, supervise or guide pig production and appreciate the relevance of local pig farmers' knowledge, experience and practices. You will identify, recognize and analyze opportunities and problems and co-operate with others of various disciplines in planning, designing and implementing projects in the field of pig husbandry.
