These days, even the smallest organisation can trade right across the globe, making the role of the international manager a vital one. Companies can no longer rely on local knowledge to be successful, and society is becoming increasingly multicultural. That’s why INHolland University’s bachelor’s degree in International Business & Management Studies grooms future managers to run companies, cut across the cultural divide and develop international relationships.
This programme focuses on international business and general management. INHolland organises the curriculum around a number of themes such as ‘The International Business Environment’, ‘Research the Market’, ‘Go International’ and ‘The Virtual Organisation Project’. Examples of electives are human resources management, international management, international trade China, Asian business studies, corporate finance, doing business in a global environment, and psychology at work. INHolland also expects you to study a couple of foreign languages to complement the programme’s international orientation.
The international manager has a wide range of responsibilities that vary from marketing and managing the import and export of goods and services to communicating with business partners, responding to the demands of international markets, and helping to establish a global business presence. That business may be small or large, private or public, non-profitable, non-governmental or governmental, so an international manager could work with a renowned museum, an NGO, a listed company or a public authority – the list of opportunities is almost endless. Many graduates even decide to join the long tradition of entrepreneurs by setting up their own business. Example occupations: finance manager, HR manager, strategic manager, marketing manager.
