International Avans Preparatory Course

Environmental Technology and Management is a prerequisite nowadays for international organisations. This requires welleducated specialists in this field. The study programme combines competencies in the fields of technology and management. Upon graduation students are able to combine the various disciplines that deal with the environment in some way or another.

Students on the Environmental Technology and Management program learn, apply and integrate various technical and managerial skills to solve environmental problems. In the first two years of study the focus is on acquiring basic knowledge, skills and relevant behaviours. During the first semester of Year 3 students do a work placement and in the last five months of the study programme students carry out a graduation assignment (final project) at a company or organisation anywhere in the world. The programme includes topics in the fields of technology, life sciences and management.

Every foreign student will need to apply via the website of 'Studielink'. Studielink is an on-line enrolment wizard that allows you to apply for enrolment or re-enrolment in a course at a government-funded institution of higher education.

The Avans Prep Course is offered to students who require additional knowledge and language training for entering into the bachelor degree courses International Business and Management Studies (IBMS) and Environmental Technology and Management (ETM) of Avans Hogeschool, University of Applied Sciences. Most courses at Avans University of Applied Sciences start in September of each year.
As for the bachelor course programme International Business and Management Studies (IBMS) offered by the Avans School of International Studies, students can start in February and September of each year.

The Avans Prep Course aims to prepare you for studying in the bachelor's degree programmes mentioned above at Avans University of Applied Sciences. This Prep Course forms an introduction to our bachelor programme and helps you to acquire a sufficient command of the English language, Dutch culture, specific domain knowledge and ICT, so as to ensure your smooth entry into our 4-year Bachelor programmes.

Depending on your level of English language proficiency, you may enrol on a full-year or a half-year Preparatory Course. By participating in the Avans Preparatory Course in an active and responsible way, we expect you to pass the IELTS exam with at least an overall band score of 6 at the end of the Prep Course. This is a legal prerequisite for enrolment of non-European students on Dutch international Bachelor programmes. Moreover, you will be well prepared and ready to enrol on our bachelor programmes and have a successful entry.

The Preparatory Course is an introduction and language programme to ensure your smooth entry into our international 4-year Bachelor programmes.

Main characteristics of the Avans Prep Course are:

• Experienced and highly qualified teaching staff;
• Carrying out projects and field work in an International Environment, working in teams;
• Self-study supported by the latest multimedia software in our state-of-the-art study centre Xplora;
• Studying and learning together with students from all over the world;
• Excursions to learn more about Western European and Dutch culture and society.

The tuition fee for EU and EEA students is approximately 1,600 Euros for two semesters.

The tuition fee for non-EU and non-EEA students is 7,200 Euros for two semesters.
