HZ stands for Hogeschool Zeeland. Hogeschool is the Dutch name of University of Applied Sciences and Zeeland refers to the most touristic region in the Netherlands.

The town of Vlissingen, home to HZ University of Applied Sciences is located in a beautiful environment on the southernmost peninsula called Walcheren. Vlissingen is a medium-sized tourist and student town with about 45.000 inhabitants.

Sun, sea and beach characterize this pleasant place with its special atmosphere. Because of its beautiful beaches, charming boulevard and many sidewalk cafés you often get the feeling that you are on a bit of a holiday.

Foreign students who decide to study at HZ University of Applied Sciences might want to find accommodation in Vlissingen. You can contact HZ to find temporary accommodation.

One of Vlissingen’s advantages is that housing is easier to find and more affordable than in other student towns. Most students live in a student house in or near the city-centre which is at biking distance from the university and walking distance from the beautiful boulevard.

In these 2 or 3 bedrooms appartments, an internet connection will be provided. The accommodation offered is furnished and the rent is generally all-inclusive. I chose HZ University of Applied Sciences because during my interview I felt that the overview of the Bachelor programme was perfect for wetting my appetite: for the professional field that I have a great interest in. Also, HZ’s timetable is interesting and varied and after your graduation there are many interesting jobs you can apply for.
This is my first time in Holland and I was a bit nervous in the beginning, but after a few days I started to love it. I have had a lovely time since I arrived and my DUTCH is much better now. I am a 4th year IBMS student at HZ University of Applied Science, One of advantage of IBMS is small group, we have many nationalities, I am from China, but i have friends are from all of the world, like German, Canada, Spain and France, India, Poland... because of small group we know each other very well. Also we have a lot of opportunities to work together, this is very good preparation for my future international career.

Studying at HZ was truly an amazing experience, I met a lot of new people with whom I forged long lasting relationships. In addition I did a minor in Consultancy Skills, whcich was a very good course. Being from North America and having european credentials will definately position me competetively in today's market place. Overall, very good experiece and highly recommended to others.
