Welcome to find your international education and study at the University of Twente

International students are greeted welcome to the University of Twente - an entrepreneurial research university founded in 1961. The University offers education and research in areas ranging from public policy studies and applied physics to biomedical technology. Also, the University of Twente is the Netherlands' only campus university.

The University staff continues to form an active academic community. The campus enjoys excellent sports and cultural facilities that have stimulated the development of a rich mix of student societies, student social events, and a constant flow of new initiatives. The Student Union, which is run entirely by students, promotes the interests of all student societies and also manages several premises, including the student social centre in the heart of Enschede.

The degree programmes offered at the University of Twente range from business studies and applied physics, to biomedical technology and psychology. The curriculum is broad, flexible and relevant to the labour market. Most students combine coursework in their major subject with a coherent set of minors in another discipline. A growing number of foreign students are finding their way to the UT. Almost all our postgraduate programmes are taught in English, and half of all our PhD students now come from outside the Netherlands.

The University of Twente's research programmes are recognized as being of world class. In the applied sciences, the emphasis is on nanotechnology, process technology, engineering, information & communication technology, and the biomedical sciences. The University also has a strong track record in business studies and the behavioural sciences. UT research programmes are organised in six research institutes.

Student life is always present in the nearby city of Enschede. With over 50 sport and cultural associations active on campus, University of Twente students have access to a wide variety of leisure activities. Student associations provide a welcome addition to daily life. As well as general international student associations, there are special associations for students from China, Turkey, India, Pakistan and Indonesia.

Each year, the UT organizes special introduction days for international master’s students, an ideal time to meet other students and join study, sport, and cultural associations.

International Office/Housing helps international students and scholars and other visitors who are associated with the University of Twente in finding (furnished) accommodation by coordinating supply and demand. We cooperate mainly with Acasa, the provider of accommodation on Campus. Applications for housing at the University of Twente are processed depending on category.
