Florida Southern College offers a
Chemistry, Bachelor of Science programme. As the study of matter, its properties and how it changes, chemistry is the building block for other sciences; understanding basic chemical principles is necessary to understand other scientific disciplines such as biology, medicine, environmental science, geology, materials science, agriculture, forensic science, most branches of engineering and even art. Chemists study not only the molecules that nature provides, but learn how to synthesize new molecules to be used in many of these fields.
Through personalized instruction, discussion, and lab work, field experience and independent research, you will be exposed to real-world applications of your major. You will graduate with a comprehensive understanding of the molecular and atomic worlds, highly developed reasoning skills, and a desire to learn more.
We encourage you to take advantage of the wide range of courses offered by the college. By combining your Chemistry/Physics program with other natural science courses you can pursue an interdisciplinary major such as Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
