Business Administration Undergraduate programme

The professional higher education programme Business Administration offers a competitive concept of education in business administration which is interesting for the economy. The programme provides employment opportunities to students in various areas of business life in the economy and other organisations which base their operations on economic principles as well as on the principles and concepts of modern management.

Business Administration study fields

The students can specialise in individual fields of business and economics by choosing one of the 8 study fields:

1. Accounting and Business Taxation,
2. Business Finance and Banking,
3. Entrepreneurship,
4. International Management (modules M1: International Business and M2: Business Logistics),
5. Management (modules M1: General Management and M2: Information Management),
6. Marketing,
7. Public Sector Economics and Management,
8. Tourism.

The professional higher education programme 'Business Administration' is conceptually and structurally harmonized with the Bologna model in the 1st cycle and comprises new study fields.

The contents of the professional higher education programme 'Business Administration' enable successful graduates a direct enrolment into the 2nd cycle of the study, i.e. the master's programme 'Economic and Business Sciences'.

In 2009, the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Maribor celebrates its 50th anniversary. During these fifty years, more than 26,000 students graduated from the Faculty, hence acquiring different professional and scientific titles. Regardless of its tradition, the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Maribor has been continuously developing and is today a modern Faculty which has successfully transformed its programmes by adapting them to the requirements of the Bologna Declaration according to the 3+2+3 model.

Studying at the Faculty of Economics and Business

By studying at the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Maribor, the students acquire, expand and broaden their professional knowledge and experience to meet the demands of the rapidly-changing economic and business environment. They are acquainted with leading and innovative economic and business theories and provided with the opportunity to gain further experience through practical training and international student exchange both at home and abroad.

The Faculty of Economics and Business offers an interesting, dynamic and challenging study environment which provides the immediate application of knowledge in practice. Approximately 26,000 undergraduate students (university education and higher professional education programmes) and more than 1,000 post-graduate students (specialists, masters of science, MBA graduates, doctors of science) of the FEB have already started their successful professional careers.

Student life at the University of Maribor

The academic year lasts from 1 October to 30 September. The students at the University of Maribor have many benefits, such as subsidised meals, accommodation in student dormitories, access to university and individual Faculty’s libraries, discounts for various purchases, etc.

he University Sports Centre ‘Leon Štukelj’ organizes various sports activities at reasonable prices. Several sport halls are provided for indoor sport activities. Apart from that, Maribor’s sports facilities offer ice skating, skiing, and swimming. The students can also join sports schools like the school of tennis, skiing, swimming, sailing, kayak, riding, as well as competitions between Faculties.

The student life at the University of Maribor is versatile regarding food, entertainment (e.g. dance, concerts, performances, festivals) and sports.

Maribor, whose origins as a town can be traced back to the 13th century, is today the second largest city of the Republic of Slovenia (115,000 inhabitants) and represents the centre of Slovenian Styria (Štajerska) region. Throughout centuries, it has developed into a cultural, business, political, sports, events and modern tourist centre of Eastern Slovenia.

Moreover, with its University, Maribor is also the city with a distinguished intellectual potential. The fact that the town has chosen to call itself ‘the University City’ denotes its awareness of the importance of education and research in its development.
