International Cooperation
The University of Tartu boasts an extensive network of international cooperation ties. It is a member of the European University Association, and has signed the Magna Charta of world universities.
UT is the only university in the Baltic States that belongs to the
Coimbra Group, an association of renowned and internationally
recognized research universities. UT also belongs to the Utrecht Network, and Baltic Sea Region Universities Network. Since 1999, UT has also been part of the European Union Socrates and Erasmus
higher education programmes, in the framework of which almost 400 cooperation
agreements have been signed with universities around Europe. In addition to that the University of Tartu has signed bilateral cooperation agreements with more than 40 universities from 14 countries.
