Vatel's 3-year Bachelors Degree in International Hotel Management combines traditional know-how in hotel and restaurant management with cutting-edge management science. Students gain practical experience every 2 weeks in their own training hotel and by taking two compulsory internships of 5 and 6 months whether in Switzerland or abroad, complementing their fixed curriculum of required education courses. Students are expected to participate actively in every phase of this multicultural, international academic program.

Admission requirements

Admission requirements for the Bachelors Degree in International Hotel Management at Vatel Switzerland are:

For the English section :

High School Diploma or Equivalent “A” level or University Entry Examination
English proficiency: TOEFL 550 (213 PC/80 IBT) or IELTS 6 (Academic)
One-page personal Essay or a Supporting letter written in English

For the French section :

High School Diploma or French Baccalauréat général, tech or pro, Maturité or Equivalent

Application files will be assessed. Chosen candidates will be invited to a selection day on campus for the following tests :

- Motivation and personality test on computer

- Analytical and logical skills test on computer

- Selection interview with our Director of studies

- English and French proficiency tests (for the English section, only English will be assessed)

- Motivation letter with a specific topic given the same day

Location and accommodation

Martigny, Switzerland

Martigny is a town of about 15,000 people that more than doubles when winter settles in due to its location close to famous skiing resorts. Martigny is located on the east edge of the Rhone Valley in the Swiss Alps. Martigny is the capital of Valais, one of the most touristic areas of Switzerland, and a junction of roads with proximity to Milan (3h by train), Paris (3h by train), London and Berlin (2h by plane).

With a history that stretches back two thousand years, Martigny offers lots to explore, such as traces from the Celtic tribes, the Romans and Napoleon's troops - restored amphitheatre, Roman thermal baths, temples and living quarters that can be admired in Martigny today. Other attractions in Martigny, Switzerland include the La Batiaz Castle and several museums such as the world famous Gianadda Foundation. In addition, a variety of outdoor activities are available in Martigny, such as skiing in nearby Verbier, Zermatt, Crans-Montana, hiking, swimming, or sailing. The predominant language spoken in Martigny is French, but German, English, Italien, and Spanish are also spoken.

Student accommodation at Vatel Switzerland offers individual rooms with en-suite private bathrooms and a small kitchen area. Many students live on-campus during their first year at Vatel Switzerland in order to meet other students and participate more fully in school activities. Off-campus accommodation options such as renting a room or an apartment in town is also available, but Vatel Switzerland does not aid in finding this accommodation.
