Nipissing's Psychology program is flexible and rewarding. Students can choose a more flexible, social science-oriented degree program in Psychology or select a more structured, scientific and research-focused on Bachelor of Science degree program.
Either way, students will benefit from an extensive list of course offerings, many involving laboratory or practicum components. Nipissing’s small class sizes work to our student's advantage. From the very start of your Nipissing experience, you will have the opportunity to study and work on research projects with award-winning professors. Bachelor of Science Degree in psychology program is designed to provide students with experience in professional and scientific psychology.
Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology provides students with the first level of education required to pursue careers in more specialized fields. However, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology also provides a large base of knowledge and skills which are easily transferred and tailored to any number of careers. Students learn valuable experimental psychology skills in research methodology, including data analysis, statistics and psychological measurement. Courses address topics such as motivation and emotion, personality disorders, clinical assessment, controversies in intelligence testing, developmental psychology, job satisfaction, psychological approaches to the creative arts and neuroanatomy.

To graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology students must satisfy all statement and the writing competency requirements for the degree and complete 120 credits including a minimum of 66 credits in Psychology and 18 credits in Science with a general average of 60%. Students should complete six credits in Humanities, six credits in Sciences and 30 credits in Electives courses.

Bachelor of Science in psychology degree qualifies a person for a number of careers. Bachelor's degree-holders may become research or administrative assistants for psychologists. Others may work in marketing research, or other related fields. A psychology degree provides students with a wide range of abilities and skills, which allow them to find employment in many other careers not directly related to the field of psychology.
