Location and accommodation

Queensland is a state which makes up the northeast corner of Australia. Nicknamed the Sunshine State, Queensland is the 2nd largest state in area and 3rd largest state in population in the country.

Queensland was first occupied between 40,000 and 65,000 years ago by Torres Straight Islanders and Aboriginals. Europeans arrived in the 1800s when the area became a British colony that was part of the state of New South Wales. In 1859, Queensland formed its own independent state.

What was once Moreton Bay Penal Colony became the capital of Queensland, Brisbane, which is today a thriving and continuously growing city. Major industries in Queensland include tourism, agriculture, and natural resources. The state of Queensland has so much to offer, with the wild Outback to the west and the Pacific Ocean and Coral Sea to the east.

Rockhampton

Students enrolled in Central Queensland University's Rockhampton campus have the option to live on-campus in Capricornia College. This residential facility houses and provides meals for 320 students. Each student has their own carpeted and fly-screened room with a desk, chair, fan, bookcase, wardrobe, telephone, and curtains.

Mackay

Students who attend Central Queensland University's Mackay campus are accommodated in a non-profit community residential facility of the Mackay Student Residential College. This facility offers a supportive, comfortable home for students in the Mackay region, either on a short- or long-term basis.

Emerald

Central Queensland University's Emerald campus provides students accommodation through the Australian Agricultural College where 150 fully-furnished bedrooms are available. Each residential block has its own common room with a television, telephone, and kitchenette. Meals are offered 3 times each day, seven days a week during the term, and full laundry service is also available. The facilities are monitored by security through safety lighting and nightly security patrols.
