Students attending the specific Bachelor of Engineering (Engineering Scholars Program) are provided with opportunities to work with Deakin’s leading researchers and industry partners on cutting-edge projects. All students are assigned mentors and are given given opportunities for vacation work in the Geelong Technology Precinct, and industry placements.

During the first year at the Bachelor of Engineering program students undertake common subjects before choosing to specialise in Civil Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics and Robotics. This format allows students to make a more informed decision and gain a broad base of knowledge in engineering.

After completing the Bachelor of Engineering program at Deakin's University graduates can look forward to a high level of employment in the automotive indsustry in particular but also in supplier companies, as well as other leading manufacturing and design companies. Other industries where graduates may be employed include: aircraft; ship-building; aerospace; railroad.

The Deakin University Melbourne Campus at Burwood provides single room accommodation for 200 students in a mixed gender and multicultural environment.
The Geelong Campus at Waurn Ponds also provides single room accommodation for 447 students in a mixed gender and multicultural environment. There is a six single bedroom house available close to the University that provides a self-catering venue for students seeking an off-campus option.
The Warrnambool Campus also provides accommodation for 240 students in a mixed gender and multicultural environment.
