Bachelor of Arts (Hons) General
The Bachelor of Arts (Hons) General programme
introduces students to a range of humanities subject areas to introduce
a way of thinking about such topics and their role in governing human
action and meanings. The basis of the various subject areas such as
Literature, Culture, Psychoanalysis, Philosophy and Media will be
examined as a means of understanding and interpreting human behaviours.
DBS has developed a
curriculum in which a wide range of complementary courses serve to
endow the student with a broad understanding of issues facing
contemporary society in general, and European society specifically. The
student is led through a range of studies that encompasses media and
cultural studies, literature, drama, psychoanalysis, philosophy and economics: an attractive mix of humanities subject areas.

The objectives of the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) General programme are as follows:
To promote an understanding of humanistic diversity in a multiplicity of liberal arts contexts
To encourage students to think critically within several contexts
To appreciate a thorough grounding in a range of central cultural, theoretical, methodological and philosophical concepts
To recognise and understand the most prominent theories, research
and principles proffered and use these as a basis for further study
