Description and information about accommodation Greater Frankfurt

Greater Frankfurt

The European Business School is located in the immediate vicinity of Frankfurt, Germany’s inancial metropolis and home to the German headquarters of numerous international corporations. With 320,000 companies and a population of 4.7million, the Rhine-Main area is Germany’s business hub. The attractive EBS campus is situated on the grounds of Schloss Reichartshausen in the picturesque winegrowing region of the Rheingau. There are numerous places to visit and a host of hiking trails through vineyards to explore. The Rheingau boasts an excellent infrastructure and offers a wide range of outstanding cultural events and festivals such as “Rhein in Flammen”, Rheingau Music Festival, Champagne Festival in Eltville, Christmas Market in Ruedesheim, to name just a few.

Within easy reach are Wiesbaden, the capital of the federal state of Hesse, and the historic old town of Mainz. With their shops, cinemas, restaurants and bars, these cities offer a wide range of entertainment opportunities for fun evenings and weekends. Of interest, above all to EBS’ international students from all over the world is the university’s proximity to Frankfurt-Main and -Hahn airports.

Since EBS does not offer on-campus housing all students have to find accommodation in the surrounding villages.

Please note that Oestrich consists of three areas along the River Rhine (Oestrich, Mittelheim and Winkel) and the uphill suburbs Hallgarten, and higher still Rebhang. The closest village to the Schloss Campus is Hattenheim. Public transport is available but we recommend bringing a bike for short distances and a car, which will give your more choice of accommodation and means you will not be dependent on public transport.

The municipalities surrounding EBS are well-prepared for the demand for student accommodation. Most of EBS’ students live in rented single apartments or share rented flats in the Rheingau between Eltville and Rüdesheim.

As a result of the fluctuation on campus (study abroad, guest students, etc.), there is always a wide range of housing offers to choose from. Nevertheless, the choice is not unlimited so we do recommend that you start looking for accommodation early on.

Some advice:
- It is imperative to organise your housing early. The vacancy rate for furnished accommodation in Oestrich’s rental market is very low and we strongly encourage you to research and secure housing early to ensure you get the option that bests suits your needs.

- The type of accommodation you choose can play an important role in your EBS experience, so think carefully about your requirements before making a decision. There is a range of housing options to suit different personalities, budgets and lifestyles. The Accommodation Form of the housing service helps you to make up your mind.

- Since the EBS, due to its unique location between the river and vineyards does not offer on-campus housing, all accommodation is to be found in the surrounding villages. Most often it will be private accommodation, only some places are in EBS dorms. If you decide to look for accommodation independently, the information on the EBS housing websites will be very helpful.

- Cheap furniture can be obtained by IKEA about 20 km from school or can be negotiated with students who leave their accommodation.

Please note: You need to declare your 2nd place of residence within 4 weeks to the registration office of your new community.

In the villages near the EBS many people offer accommodation to students. They offer their flats in newspapers, in ads in shops on the EBS info board or on the internet. Some have longstanding connections to the EBS housing service. The University has arrangements with private landlords nearby for semester-based leases of student apartments and flat shares.
