BSc in Wildlife Conservation and Management

Purpose of the BSc in Wildlife Conservation and Management programme is to educate wildlife professionals with ability to manage and control general and special projects in wildlife management and nature protection based on ecological and environmental attitude. Wildlife professionals (involved in game farming and collaborative work with companies of agriculture, forest-, fish-, grass management and rural development) able to meet the requirements and keep the rules of wildlife- and nature protection. Further aim of the course is to educate wildlife professionals with ability to teach principles of nature protection and organize hunting turism. Theoretical knowledge supports further study at MSc level provided by the B. Sc. programme.

Application and qualification

Application Procedure

Students interested in the BSc/MSc programmes need to complete an Application Form to be considered for admission to the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. Documents are available at the Registrar's Office or can be downloaded from the FAES website.

The Application Form and all the necessary documents (Final Diploma or its Certified Copy, Result in English Language Test or its Certified Copy, Scientific activities and results, Curriculum Vitae, References, Certification of Bank Transfer of Application Fee, Medical Certificate, Learning Agreement) must be sent to the address below. Documents may be emailed if the forms have been scanned. An application will be considered only after all of the requested documents have been received. Accepted students will receive an admission letter with all necessary information for the next steps.

Admission

Successful candidates will be admitted after the first semester's tuition fee is paid, all the required documents are received and the minimum number of students (10) have registered for the course.

- Completed secondary school studies proved by a High School Diploma

- Good command of English

- Payment of application and tuition fee

- Submitted required documents

- Official copy of secondary school certificate with the final results. If it is nor issued in English, an attested translation into English or Hungarian is needed

- Official copy of the English exam and its result that prove your English proficiency.

- Brief CV in English

- Recommendation letters of Referees with their addresses

- Medical certificate dated back not more than 30 days

- Copy of receipt proving payment of application fee

Expenses

The BSc/MSc programme tuition fees cover education, research, organized field trips, and study tours.

Application fee: 50 EUR/student (paid at registration)
Tuition fee: 2200 EUR/student/semester (paid 30 days before registration)
Student ID Card: 7 EUR/student/semester (payable at registration)

Other expenses include accommodations listed above (estimated at 250-475 EUR per month) and health insurance (cca. 40/month EUR).

Szent István University is Hungary's largest agricultural higher educational institution. The University has exceeded the scope of traditional agriculture for long, since in addition to the conventional agricultural and environmental sciences it offers courses in veterinary medicine, mechanical engineering, economy and social sciences, architecture as well as applied arts.

The Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (FAES), situated on the Gödöllő Campus, used to be a part of the former Gödöllő University of Agricultural Sciences, and has a history dating back more than 80 years. The FAES and the central offices of the University are located in the town of Gödöllő, only 30 km from Budapest. It is easy to reach by rail, suburban train, bus, or car.

Gödöllő is a dynamically growing university town lying near Budapest provides excellent transportation and several sports, entertainment and cultural facilities for the young people. Both the easily reachable supply of the capital and the beautiful nature, the environment, and the calmness of rural areas can be found in Gödöllő.

Szent István University - Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences is fully residential and has exclusive dormitory facilities providing excellent accommodation to all students. There are single and double rooms with attached bathrooms and kitchens. All the rooms are furnished including a study table, chair and cupboard/shelf. There are common areas for socialising and a laundromat for student use. There is a grocery store and a full service Post Office on campus.

Students should apply for housing at the same time they apply for the programme.
