The BA in Architecture will establish the theoretical and practical foundations during their first year of the programme. Introductory lessons in the various subject areas of the academy’s syllabus will be presented and students will gain practical drafting skills in the architectural design studios.
BA in Architecture students will develop their theoretical knowledge and practical skills by attending lectures on historical-humanistic and technical-scientific subjects as well as the design studios (ateliers). The courses covers the following subject areas:
Architectural design has a constant central importance through the duration of the BA in Architecture, and is closely related to the teaching of the historical-humanistic and technical-scientific subjects.
Bachelor of Science in Architecture
The tuition fee for the BA in Architecture is CHF 4,000 (about Euro 2,500).
For candidates resident in Switzerland, Lichtenstein and Campione d'Italia at the time of the final high school exam (maturità), the semester fee is CHF 2,000.



USI Università della Svizzera italiana (also known as University of Lugano) is a member of the Swiss university system and the only Italian-speaking university in Switzerland. The University of Lugano has two campuses located in Lugano and Mendrisio. The Lugano campus is located in the heart of Lugano and hosts the USI Faculties of Communication Sciences, Economics and Informatics, as well as the University central administrative offices and library.
USI’s Mendrisio campus hosts the Academy of Architecture. Its two main buildings are Villa Argentina, a neo-classical palace surrounded by a century-old park, and Palazzo Turconi, originally the town hospital. Both have been completely remodelled to meet the needs of students, faculty and staff.
