Description of BA Economics

RichmondThe Economics program at Richmond creates in students a sense of awareness of economic issues that have both national and international importance.

Students are afforded the opportunity to engage in a major individual research project. This project, normally around 8-10,000 words in length, provides a solid base for gaining research experience in economics.

The study of regional and international topics is encouraged in upper division courses.

The presence of the editorial offices of the research newsletter 'Briefing Notes in Economics' adds currency to the program. Richmond students are regularly co-opted to work with this publication and gain valuable publishing experience before moving on to graduate school.

Successful graduates who earn a degree in Economics at Richmond can expect career opportunities as professional economists in business, banking and finance, public administration and government service, as well as the international financial institutions and the NGO sector.

The degree also provides a solid foundation for graduate work in economics.

Description of London

London

LondonRichmond has campuses in two of London’s most appealing communities: Richmond-upon-Thames and Kensington. The Richmond Hill Campus, which dates back to the founding of Richmond College in 1843, is the location for first-year and second-year students. Upper-division students typically relocate to the campus in Kensington, Central London, where graduate studies are also pursued.

There are thrifty ways you can see a lot in London without going broke. In addition to strolling around one of London's many beautifully manicured parks and gardens and the museums (most of which are free), there are endless other opportunities for those on a tight budget.

London is famous for its underground subway system, also known as The Tube, which is a great way to get around the city.

Many companies run organised walks around London as well. Arguably the best is Original London Walks which has walks on everything from Sherlock Holmes to Jack the Ripper. For those who want to do it themselves, Green Chain Walks connect many of the green spaces of south-east London and Time Out publishes an excellent guide, The Time Out Book of London Walks.
