The Communications major at Richmond, The American International University in London offers a combination of intercultural communications and interdisciplinary studies.
Students who earn this degree will gain a broad-based knowledge of current communication theory and extensive hands-on practical experience. Theoretical and practical modules of three courses each enhance the required lower and upper division courses.
Many courses explore imaginative applications of multi-media production and computer mediated communication. In their final year, students bring their acquired theoretical knowledge to the completion of the Senior Seminar and their acquired practical skills to the Communication Projects Workshop course.
At Richmond, teaching and learning are a collaborative venture between faculty and students and effective mentoring of students is a high priority.
Richmond students receive assistance in choosing courses which will give them the greatest opportunity to realize their potential. Students are encouraged to explore the rich offerings that London has available like multi-media shows, new films, or photographic exhibitions. Also found in London are some of the world’s major museums, art auction houses, hundreds of exhibitions of contemporary art, design and media, as well as music, dance and theatre performances.
The Bachelor of Arts in Communication degree at Richmond prepares students for graduate study or careers in international media, international marketing, corporate communications or other creative fields.
